OSCE and League of Arab States promote guidebook on gender-aware approaches to preventing and countering violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism

The Organization for Security and Cooperation launched a Guidebook in Arabic on gender, prevention of violent extremism and law enforcement in Cairo. This guidebook is the result of a two-year collaborative effort by experts on gender, the security sector and countering violent extremism based on case studies from across the OSCE area.

More than 50 representatives of governments from the region, NGOs as well as international organizations gathered at the League of Arab States Headquarters to discuss the role of gender in preventing and countering violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism.

The guidebook, which is available in English, Russian and Arabic at www.osce.org/secretariat/420563 was funded by Norway and Italy.
