U.S. Institute of Peace

For over 30 years, the U.S. Institute of Peace has been at the forefront of efforts to better understand religion's roles in conflict and peace while harnessing contributions from religious actors, institutions, ideas, and practices to promote inclusive societies and build sustainable peace. The Institute helps policymakers engage effectively with religious actors through research, advising, and training. USIP also works directly with religious communities and institutions seeking to mitigate and resolve violent conflict to strengthen their peacebuilding skills and promote religious coexistence. USIP fosters collaboration across divides both within and between faith traditions. Our work on religious engagement shapes country-specific programmatic initiatives and supports mechanisms to ensure peacebuilding efforts are inclusive and sustainable.
