To celebrate the diversity of all peoples and societies, and to recognize the enormous efforts by LGBTQIA+ groups across South Asia, the AHA! project is celebrating pride month this year by sharing and amplifying the stories of three community-based projects that we are supporting. Despite shrinking civic space, increasing government scrutiny and under the constant risk of physical and psychological harm, LGBTQIA+ activities fight for a more tolerant and loving society. Many LGBTQIA+ individuals and supporters across South and Southeast Asia are not offered protection for their human rights and inclusion in society. Therefore, the respondents requested to remain anonymous in the following stories due to safety concerns within their respective country.
