Pax Christi International’s work is based on the gospel and inspired by faith. We believe that peace is possible and that vicious cycles of violence and injustice can be broken. Pax Christi’s vision is of a world where people can live in peace, without fear in all its forms. Our commitment is articulated out of the many contexts around the world where people have been able to sustain their belief in the power of nonviolence and reconciliation, even in the face of horrific destruction and war. We are convinced of the urgent need for just and sustainable peace on earth.
The work for peace of our member organizations – more than one hundred in over fifty countries, is extremely diverse and appropriate to specific contexts or particular forms of conflict. Our members offer creative responses wherever in the world violence threatens human dignity, perpetuates poverty and exacerbates ecological destruction.
