Statement from the South Sudan Council of Churches (SSCC) on the deteriorating situation in South Sudan

Issued on 26th May 2015, the statement strictly condemns the ongoing killing and calls for an end to the conflict.

South Sudanese Church leaders note that both individual leaders and SSCC have made similar statements before. However, their words have not been heeded. The statement now challenges the military and political leaders to hear the message of the church leaders which is claimed to echo the voice of the ordinary citizens of South Sudan. SSCC wishes to serve notice that the churces will not idle. If their statements are not heeded, they will take more proactive steps to try to achieve peace and reconciliation.
